It's that time again.  There is so much cool stuff announced at these.  I find it easy to get.... geeked.... stoked.... excited.... dare I say..... aroused?  So far, I've only seen the Microsoft conference and part of the EA conference.  Mass Effect looks awesome, Halo is and will always be huge, Modern Warfare (enough said), I can't wait for any and all of these.

However, just as fun as seeing all the great games and new features just over the horizon is seeing all the giant steaming piles of crap they're gonna try and heap on us.  There were no bigger turds than the new Fable and Star Wars Kinect.  Star Wars just looked like crap.  I've seen better graphics on the hand held slot machine games my grandparents had.  It be ugly.  And Fable, way to go Pete.  Way to take a giant leap backwards.  That genius turned a really good series into a freaking rail shooter.  The last rail shooter I bought was....  Well, does Duck Hunt count?

Damn it feels good to vent.  Come on everybody.  Come tell us your joy or throw another turd on the pile.

Somebody help me out here.  Did Nintendo announce a new system or just that goofy controller thing?

From 411Mania.com:

Update: Nintendo's Japanese site has released some specs for the Wii U.

As mentioned, the console will be HD that ranges from 480i to 1080p, and will also include HDMI support.

The specs sheet also says the console will have "Internal flash storage," an SD slot and the ability for USB storage, which will allow for external HDDs.

Original: Nintendo's next console has finally gotten a new name.

The console will be called Wii U, and can be seen above. It looks a bit familiar, doesn't it? It appears that the biggest feature is the controller, which will let gamers play games on the screen built into the controller away from the TV, as well as do various other features that can assist games being played.

The controller, like previously rumored, will feature a 6.2 inch touchscreen and will be backwards compatible with all Wii games and controllers. It will feature rumble, trigger buttons, an accelerometer and will be HD. The controller will also be able to make video calls and surf the net.

It should be noted that, while all Wii games will be able to be played on Wii U, the system will not be able to up the resolution of the graphics to HD graphics.

In addition to announcing the console, plenty of new games were announced for the system. The games announced include: LEGO City Stories, Darksiders 2, Batman: Arkham City, Tekken, Assassin's Creed: Revelations, Ghost Recon Online, DiRT, Aliens: Colonial Marines, Metro: Last Light and Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge. That's right, the next Nintendo system will have more core titles.

I see.  It'll be interesting to see what they do with it.

From the Playstation side, that 3D tv looks cool.  It would get bumped up to 'awesome' if it were bigger.  24" is pretty small.  Although, that may make it portable.... ok, jury is still out on the size.  But the ability to have two people to see their own individual screen from the same monitor is way cool.  Can't wait to see that in action.

I agree--but it's hard to believe that 3d is the way of the future.  A few of my friends can't even see the 3d, and that's a common occurance I hear.

Makes my head hert if I play in 3d for more than 30 minutes or so--would be nice if Sony could improve the 3d tech a bit.

3D is neat trick.  It doesn't mess with my head, but my focus is on the 2 player full screen.  That's an awesome feature.
