From 411Mania.com:

Both Game Informer and IGN are reporting that a new home console from Nintendo could be announced at or before E3.

GI's sources say the console would arrive in 2012 with HD graphics. Meanwhile, IGN's say the console will be backwards compatible with all Wii games (meaning some kind of motion controls), and will be "significantly more powerful than the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360."

From 411Mania.com:

According to 01net, the console is being codenamed "Project Café," unnamed sources have said. The sources also said that the hardware is comparable to the Xbox 360, including a three-core IBM PowerPC CPU.

The most interesting tidbit, though, may be the controller. 01net is saying it will feature a six-inch single-input touchscreen, front-mounted camera and the standard set of buttons. The control is also thought to be able to function as the Wii sensor bar as well.

It should be noted that this is the same French news site that accurately gave the hardware specs of the NGP before it was announced.

Sources now confirm to IGN the new Nintendo controller allows players to stream entire games to the device from the console, saying it's like a miniature television. The screen size on the controller is also confirmed to be six inches in size.

Rumor has it that Rockstar is currently developing a game for Project Cafe. This would be awesome and would give the indication that Nintendo doesn't mind taking on a more adult image with Project Cafe. The source comes from 01net.

6 inch screen?  Wow if that is true then the controller are going to be as big as a GameGear--not to kiddie friendly.

Even more details are being leaked and each time it becomes more certain that there will indeed be a 6 inch screen controller. Here are the details:

According to Kotaku, the controller for the new system will have eight buttons, two analog sticks and a camera. Also, it will apparently have a 6.2" touchscreen.

Kotaku goes on to say that system will support "Wii Remote-style controllers."

From 411Mania.com:

They make it official.

Nintendo Co., Ltd has confirmed that they will launch a successor to the Wii in 2012. Nintendo has sold 86.01 million units of the Wii between its launch in 2006 and the end of March 2011.

"We will show a playable model of the new system and announce more specifications at the E3 Expo, which will be held June 7-9, 2011, in Los Angeles."

"As for the details of exactly what it will be, we have decided that it is best to let people experience it for themselves at E3. So I won't talk about specific details today, but it will offer a new way of playing games within the home."

I am excited to hear more news on this new console that Nintendo is releasing.  There have been rumors of Nintendo offering achievements on the system.  This has not yet been confirmed nor denied.  Would achievements make this system more interesting to you?

Achievements would be awesome! Imagine if you will, a Nintendo based achievement system where when you meet certain requirements you could be treated to special Nintendo DL games or even Nintendo DLC content.

They could even give out exclusive prizes like ones found on there club.nintendo site. I for one would be super excited to see this role out. Being Nintendo, I'm sure they will find a totally unique and innovative way to incorporate there achivement system :)

This could be great for the big N. However- they need to look at their own history.

It has been about ten years since they were last taken seriously. Major developers have been unable to recup for losses on Nintendo consoles and make enough profit. I hope things will turn around real quickly for them, because even though Nintendo tried with the Cube and Wii, it never took off with the Mature scene.

Good luck Nintendo- you are still my favorite.

From411Mania.com:

During an earning release yesterday, Nintendo president Satoru Iwata announced that the Wii U will be launching worldwide before the end of the year.

Specifically, Iwata said that the US, Europe, Australia and Japan can expect the console "for the year-end season."

In addition, two new bits of info were released about the system. First, the Wii U will be getting user accounts as part of the new Nintendo Network.

The network will cover ""competitions and communication among users, as well as the sales of digital content," Iwata said. It will be on both the 3DS and Wii U.

Second, the same technology the Skylander's sensors uses will be put in the Wii U WiiPad.

Called "Near Field Communication," the tech will let companies possibly use real world objects in game. Iwata also mentions that the tech could be used for credit card payments as well.

Outstanding. Can I brew coffee with this as well?

All kidding aside folks, this is just the example to show us how far we have come along in technology in the last decade. Compare this with the original Odyssey, and it shows how far in in the world we have come along.

A controller with a 6.2" screen.... next thing ya know we will have controllers with emotion sensing technology.

Thanks for the update Tony.

Attention gamers!

This just in, it appears some new details about the Wii U have surfaced. Here is the link.

http://games.yahoo.com/blogs/plugged-in/wii-u-bonanza-day-one-downloads-leaked-rayman-181330778.html

Bare in mind that even though the link specifically mentions Rayman, it actually talks a great deal about how Nintendo plans to implement Digital Ditribution in thi coming generation. Some naysayers of Nintendo's future may be surprised at this move.

Excellent read Platinum!!!  Thanks for sharing. The Rayman Legends trailer looks awesome for Wii U AND it shows actual gameplay of the Wii U in action. I was blown away when the trailer showed the gamers placing figures that correspond with the game on the tablet and thus transferring the characters into the game very similar to Skylanders. Also, it should be noted that Ubisoft left the trailer with a cliffhanger hinting that other character figures from Ubisoft's other franchises (Assassins Creed for example) could be compatible with Rayman Legends. I'm so excited =) I'll be at E3 delivering all the latest on Wii U and MANY more video games!
