First up, I'm very excited for the speculation that Nintendo will be showing off a new Nintendo console which in the past has been nick named Wii 2. The new console is to sport HD and the graphics are rumored to surpass the PS3 and Xbox 360. It is also rummored to be backwards compatiable with Wii games and set to launch in 2012. Could this be true? We'll find out at Nintendo's Press Conference in June :)

More rumors are surfacing on the Wii 2. According to 01net, the Wii 2 is currently being code named "Project Cafe" and will feature graphics on par with the Xbox 360 featuring three-core IBM PowerPC CPU.

In addition, 01net reported that the controller will sport a six inch single input touchscreen, a camera on the front and a button layout. It is rumored that the Wii remote will double as a sensor bar.

01net reported in advance all the details on the NGP which turned out to be accurate, so the source is certainly a reliable one. Stay tuned.

This is pretty exciting news!  Is the touch screen the controller for the system or is it the system itself?

From the sounds of it, it seems that the touch screen controller will be the controller for the system for the new games for Project Cafe. Then if you want to play Wii Games, you might need the remote & nunchuk and the Project Cafe controller would act as the sensor for original Wii games. Just my theory, I'm very curious to see how this all comes together :)

I'm excited to announce that Nintendo has officially confirmed that they will unveil their new gaming console this year at E3. Nintendo had this to say:

"We will show a playable model of the new system and announce more specifications at the E3 Expo, which will be held June 7-9, 2011, in Los Angeles. As for the details of exactly what it will be, we have decided that it is best to let people experience it for themselves at E3. So I won't talk about specific details today, but it will offer a new way of playing games within the home."

The console is set for a 2012 release and rumors are flying that The Legend of Zelda Skyward Sword may be canceled on the Wii in favor of the Wii 2. However, it is possible that Skyward Sword could release for both systems. We'll find out if history repeats itself. In the mean I'm very excited to see what Nintendo has up there sleeve with the Wii 2, from the rumored specs, it sounds amazing!
