After much back and forth earlier this year, currently, Steve Wiebe is sitting comfortably atop Twin Galaxies' worldwide leaderboard in Donkey Kong. But that's not enough for Chicago's Logan Hardware. The soon to be re-opened hardware store has hired Wiebe to not just teach a Donkey Kong class, but also to spend nearly five hours attempting to best his own high score on January 15.
The public is free to attend the attempt, whereas the class costs $12 -- if you're looking to snap a pic with Wiebe or to have him sign your ultra limited edition laserdisc copy of King of Kong, ponying up the $12 is probably your best option. If that weren't enough, Logan's throwing in a free t-shirt and the chance to ask Wiebe what he really thinks of Billy Mitchell's hot sauce brand. And, surely, the answer to that last question is priceless. I love that best is never good enough for some people. If you are in the Chicago area this month, you have to check out a small piece of live video gaming history!

Mark calendars everyone, this is a gaming event not to be missed. Steve Wiebe is a very passionate Donkey Kong player and I wish him the best with his Donkey Kong class and beating his very own high score. For those of you who have not seen The King of Kong documentary where Billy Mitchell and Steve go head to head for the high score, you absolutely owe it to yourself to buy the DVD. Check it out here

If you are into retro gaming and wanting a history lesson King of Kong is fantastic. There are plenty of opinions about the controversy that surrounded the two gamers in the movie but I would have to say definitely give the film a watch.

The Donkey Kong high score has changed hands again.
This time, Hank Chien has claimed the title again from Steve Wiebe and Billy Mitchell. According to Kotaku, Chien's new high score is 1,062,800. How long this score will last is unknown, considering Wiebe is set to attempt a new record this weekend. The three are also set to meet in March for a score-off.
Looks like the boys are fighting fast and furious right now!

I would love to too, these guys live and breath a handful of games and they play them for days straight until they master every nook and corner of the game. I would love to do that with Galaga! How bout you BloodJunky, if you could master one game and be the world record holder of it, which would it be?
