Rock of the Dead

What happens when you combine Guitar Hero with the undead? Rock of the Dead for the Nintendo Wii of course! With such entries as Typing of the Dead in the House of the Dead series, it time for another game in this realm to shine. Rock of the Dead is not apart of the HOTD series, however, it is a brand new game from Epicenter and will be published by Conspiracy. This is an insanely cool concept and mixes up the Guitar Hero/Rock Band game play by throwing in some Zombies and creatures to kill. So how do you play the game you might ask? Simple, just pick up your guitar controller for the Wii and start fretting to some killer jams while killing some undead! Games like this always intrigue me and I haven't seen many concepts like this come along since Sega's 1999 Typing of the Dead that hit Japanese Arcades and was later ported to the Sega DreamCast and PC in the states.

You kill your enemies on screen by playing in tune to the song, mess up on the frets and be prepared to get a bite taken out of you! Too scared to take on the undead alone? No problem! Epicenter has designed the game to support two-player drop in co-operative play. So not only will you be facing off against the undead together but you will be facing off against each other as well for the high score! Play nice children. As for the music, there will be no officially licensed tracks, however, bands have been hired to do cover songs of famous classical tunes and the developer was even able to swing some Rob Zombie music clips to go along side some of the action moments. As a nice little surprise, Doogie Howser fans rejoice, Neil Patrick Harris the M.D. himself will be doing the narrating for the game!

As a huge fan of Romero and undead flicks and especially of Guitar Hero/Rock Band, I am highly anticipating the release of Rock of The Dead! The game is due to hit store shelves later this year at a budget price of $29.99 to $39.99. You can count on us here at VGS playing ROTD to "death" and you can take that to bank... the blood bank. Muahahaha!
