Big news in the Zelda universe, Nintendo has officially unveiled the timeline for The Legend of Zelda series. For years Zelda fans have united sharing there theories and breakdowns to uncover the Legend of Zelda timeline. Many have been close while others have been way off but now thanks to an incredible new book in Japan called, "The Legend of Zelda Hyrule Historia", a true timeline has been revealed.

Produced by Zelda series producer Eiji Aonuma-San, this epic 274 page book has a breakdown of every game in the series with exclusive never before seen artwork, the Zelda timeline and much more. Nintendo announced this special 25th anniversary book on there Japanese website back on December 15, 2011 and ever since the demand has been extremely high! In fact the book was released on December 21, 2011 for 3,255 Yen ($42.00) and PlayAsia.com is already sold out.

So without further ado, I know present to you the official Legend of Zelda timeline straight from Nintendo:
-The Legend of Zelda: Skyword Sword
-The Legend of Zelda: The Minish Cap
-The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords
-The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time
From here the series splits off into three timelines; one assuming Link is defeated by Ganon at the end of Ocarina of Time (Timeline A), the second is where Link lives at the end of Ocarina of Time returning to his child hood (Timeline B) and the third follows Link after Ganon's defeat and before Link goes back to his child hood (Timeline C).

-The Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past
-The Legend of Zelda: Oracle of Seasons/Oracle of Ages
-The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening
-The Legend of Zelda
-Zelda II: The Adventure of Link
Timeline B

-The Legend of Zelda: Four Swords Adventures
Timeline C
-The Legend of Zelda: The Wind Waker
-The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
-The Legend of Zelda: Spirit Tracks
