It has always been a dream for Jim to have his own Video Game TV Show. When G4TV launched in 2002, Jim wrote a spec script for his vision of a video game TV show that he submitted to G4TV to be considered for production, G4 loved the concept of the show and where getting ready to send him out for meetings but as the script made its way up the ladder to get green lit, it came to Tom Russo (founder of G4) who decided that G4 was not producing any more shows at the time.
So years later in 2008, Jim was still sitting on his show concept. With his experience in independent film making, he decided to bring his video game TV show to life. With a partnership with Video Game Trader Magazine, a classic gaming magazine that Jim writes for, he took his content that he submitted to G4 and combined it with elements from the magazine. Thus Video Game Trader TV was born.
Enter Video Game Saga…Starting in 2010, Jim and TonyB decided to take the original content that was incorporated in Video Game Trader TV, and produce a new show called Video Game Saga. Video Game Trader TV will still be filmed and will feature content exclusive from the magazine, while our original content will be split off into Video Game Saga. The name "Video Game Saga" was chosen because we want to represent the Saga of video games from the past, present and future.
The current cast of VideoGameSaga.com characters: Jim Combs, TonyB, Lifeless
When I was born, there wasn't an umbilical cord like your normal baby--instead I was attached to a controller cord! As a passionate gamer and video game historian who has devoted my life to video games--I eat, sleep, and breath video games. My motto is "I love ALL video games with all my heart and soul". I have been actively involved in the classic gaming community for years. As a proud organizer for the Classic Gaming Expo, it has been my mission to spread the word about current and classic gaming. Being a contributor to Digital Press, I wrote the Game Gear section for the Digital Press Advanced Price Guide. Years of retail management, along with my experience in filmmaking drive me to give my own perspective on the gaming world. My passion and enthusiasm for video games has gotten stronger as I've gotten older. Take the time to share your ideas here about gaming. Whether you're looking back, or moving forward, there is always time to pick up the sticks, and enjoy playing a few levels. Jim Combs Founder, Show host/creator, Writer, Owner. |
Never ever sneak up on La Parka, during a siesta. I have a lifelong love of video games, comics, toys, wrestling, and my wife--in that order. The love of games keeps me young. I have 8 years experience in retail management, and have sold video games my entire adult life. I am a college graduate, and now reside working in an office, where I sometimes miss sharing my opinions about games. No entertainment media better represents our culture better than video games. We were raised on them, and in turn are raising our children on them. To understand our culture, you must take the time to understand video games--where we came from and where we are going. You can contact me at vgsaga@gmail.com. I may not agree with you, but I will respect your opinions. |
It's hard to define my experiences with the fighting game and not use the word obsession. There's just something about them. From Street Fighter 2, Karate Champ, and Samurai Showdown to Tekken 6 and BlazBlu I've played them all. Games that nobody else in the world would consider playing or have ever heard of, I love. I'm far from the best, but there's a scant few people on this planet who've beaten Bloodstorm. And if you don't understand why that's significant then stay tuned to find out. Outside of gaming my free time is spent with my girl, watching movies, music, tv, pro wrestling and the occasional game of cards. If I could have a super power it would be old-school, cardboard on the concrete break-dancing. Or invisibility. That would be cool too. You can contact me at vgsaga@gmail.com. |
